The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) provides national leadership, coordination, and resources to prevent and respond to juvenile delinquency and victimization. OJJDP supports states and communities in their efforts to develop and implement effective and coordinated prevention and intervention programs and to improve the juvenile justice system so that it protects public safety, holds offenders accountable, and provides treatment and rehabilitative services tailored to the needs of juveniles and their families.

Sex Offenders

Center for Sex Offender Management

The goal of the Center for Sex Offender Management (CSOM) is to enhance public safety by preventing further victimization through improving the management of adult and juvenile sex offenders who are in the community. The Center for Sex Offender Management is sponsored by the Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, in collaboration with the National Institute of Corrections, State Justice Institute, and the American Probation and Parole Association.

Colorado Office of Domestic Violence and Sex Offender Management

The Office of Domestic Violence and Sex Offender Management (ODVSOM) is part of the Division of Criminal Justice, under the command of the Colorado Department of Public Safety and administers the Domestic Violence and Sex Offender Management Boards and their respective legislatively mandated work. The Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) was charged to develop standards and guidelines for the evaluation, treatment, and behavioral monitoring of sex offenders. SOMB's efforts are focused toward developing a basis for systematic management and treatment of adult and juvenile sex offenders. The Standards and Guidelines for the Assessment, Evaluation, Treatment, and Behavioral Monitoring of Adult Sex Offenders were created in 1996. The primary goal of these standards is to improve community safety and protect citizens. The standards were revised in 1998 and 1999. The standards are based on the best practices known today for managing and treating sex offenders.

National Women's Prison Project

The NWPP embraces women returning home while providing needed survival skills in a holistic approach to the "invisible" female offender population. This comprehensive reentry model was designed by an exoffender in collaboration with resources in the community.

Office on Violence Against Women, US Department of Justice

The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) handles the Department’s legal and policy issues regarding violence against women, coordinated Departmental efforts, provided national and international leadership, received international visitors interested in learning about the federal government’s role in addressing violence against women, and responded to requests for information regarding violence against women.

Open Society Institute's After Prison Initiative

The After Prison Initiative supports the successful reentry of prisoners to their communities by promoting leadership among prisoners and former prisoners in progressive reform efforts; systemic reform of corrections' policies (especially parole and probation) and of inappropriate civil barriers to reentry; and the redirection of criminal justice resources to enhance community control of, and responsibility for, public safety and justice.
